My solution to this problem was to press the play button to give the mixtape another wheel up. You just want the mixtape to continue until you suddenly hear the end credits and you feel sad. This now joins my blogging playlist soundtrack. Wale Folarin touches on a lot of topics from racism, to love, to the current state of hip hop, literally offers the listeners no drugs which is a great experience considering the number of Rick Ross drug laced songs I have been listening to recently. He goes fast and goes slow with the rhymes when he has to He literally works the beat out. This mixtape is an audio joy to listen to and funny. He has enjoyed massive hype all via his hardwork without the need of a major label. Now signed to Interscope via Mark Ronson’s Allido records, his debut is slated for a release late this year. I first heard of him back when I used to collect Source magazine (back when it was the hip hop yardstick) via the Unsigned hype column. So moving on, Wale’s is on a go-go kinda rap which is just mad, gives him the variety flavour presently needed in hip hop. Seriously, if you do not have The Roots album, then you are loose and slack. To say the two complemented each other perfectly on the track would be an understatement. Matter of fact this joint is on the mixtape but labelled as “The Roots song Wale is on”. You should check out Wale’s feature on The Roots’ excellent “Rising Down” album. The difference is Wale sounds much younger and Black Thought sounds much seasoned and mature in the game. His rap voice is eerily similar to Black Thought (who is one of the best rappers without a doubt) of The Roots. I thought remove a couple of skits and bang you have a very very hot album. The mixtape based on Wale’s love for Seinfeld is serious. If Lil “f**k mixtape djs” Wayne undoubtedly has the most anticipated album of the year, then the most anticipated mixtape of the year would certainly belong to the self proclaimed “Ambassador of rap for the Capital”. Yeah yeah yeah, I know, I have been talking about this mixtape for a quick minute now. Indie Rock Alternate Whatever You Call This I Call It Music.
